Ceramics

Ceramics is part of my exploration of matter in all its forms.

My “ethnico-contemporary” style is inspired by my travels and the discovery of rare techniques such as the pottery of Sejnane in Tunisia or the neriage.
In the neriage technique (pronounced nair-ee-ah-gee, which means “mixture” in Japanese), the graphics and coloring are not superficial but drowned in the mass of clay. Coloured clay strips, plates or pieces are assembled.

This technique requires technical rigor in the preparation and finishes but also lends itself to experimentation and offers an infinite wealth. The ceramic sculptures are part of a theme that I am very close to: the “packaging”.

The series “Intimacies” represents characters huddled in their inner matter from which only the face emerges.
